Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the questions we hear most often around the office. If yours isn’t covered, call Brooke at (888) 711-4778 or email [email protected] and you’ll get a straight answer the same day.

How does your pricing work — is it really flat-rate?
Yes. For most local moves we give you a flat band based on home size and access, so you know the number before moving day instead of watching a meter. A 2-mover crew and truck runs $152 an hour if you'd rather go hourly, and a 3-mover crew is $205 an hour. Either way, the price is in writing first and includes blankets, dollies, and our tools.
Do I have to put down a deposit to book?
A $140 deposit holds your date on our calendar, and it's not an extra charge — it comes straight off your final total. Until that deposit is in, the date stays open to anyone, and weekend and end-of-month slots go quickly around here.
What's actually included in the price?
The truck, the crew, fuel within our service area, and all the basic gear: furniture pads, dollies, hand tools, and shrink wrap for upholstery. Standard disassembly and reassembly of beds and tables is included too. Packing materials and full packing labor are quoted separately if you want them.
Can you pack for me, or do I have to do it myself?
Either works. Plenty of customers pack their own boxes and just have us load and haul. If you'd rather not, our movers can do a full pack or just the kitchen and the fragile stuff. We box it, label it by room, and load it — tell us which and we'll price it on your estimate.
On a long-distance move, does the same crew handle the whole thing?
Yes, and that's the point. The crew that wraps and loads your home in Jacksonville is the same crew that drives it and unloads it at the other end. There's no van-line handoff, no warehouse transfer, and no second company touching your furniture along the way.
How does insurance and valuation coverage work?
Every shipment includes released-value protection at $0.60 per pound per item at no extra cost — that's the Florida standard. If you want fuller coverage, full-value protection is available for an added fee and has to be chosen before the move. We also carry up to a million dollars in cargo coverage per shipment.
Are you actually licensed in Florida?
We are. E&E holds an active Florida intrastate mover registration on file with FDACS — that's the Florida IM number on our paperwork — and we carry US DOT and MC authority for interstate moves. We keep all of it current, and we're glad to show it.
Wait — are you a broker or a moving company?
We're a moving company, full stop. E&E owns its trucks and employs its own uniformed, W-2 crews here in Jacksonville. We are not a broker, a matching service, or a lead aggregator. When you hire us, the Tanner brothers' own crew shows up and does the work — nobody is handing your job off to a stranger.
What happens if a hurricane or summer storm is coming on my move date?
We live with hurricane season every June through November and watch the tropics closely. If a named storm is bearing down on your date, we'll talk early and stage your move around it — usually pulling it forward or sliding it a day or two — at no penalty. For the regular afternoon thunderstorms, we just work around them; our crews are used to a wet Florida summer.
What if I need to move on short notice or shift my date?
Often, yes — call and ask. We keep a little room in the schedule for short-notice jobs, though availability is tighter on weekends and at month's end. If you need to move your existing date, just give us notice and we'll shift you to the next open slot and re-confirm the price in writing.
Will your crew take a piano or other oversized pieces?
We do. Uprights, baby grands, gun safes, pool tables, and oversized gym equipment get the right straps, ramps, and a crew that's done it before, not improvised muscle. Specialty handling starts around $375 depending on the piece and the stairs involved.
Is there storage on hand when my dates don't match up?
If your closing and move-in don't match up, talk to us — we can arrange short-term storage and a redelivery so your things have somewhere safe to sit between homes. It's quoted case by case based on how much you have and how long you need it.
I'm military — can you handle a PCS move?
Absolutely. PCS moves for families at NAS Jacksonville and Naval Station Mayport are a regular part of our week, and we know the paperwork and timing that come with orders. Reach out early with your dates and we'll work around the windows the military gives you.
How far ahead should I book my move?
Two to four weeks out is a comfortable window, especially if you want a Saturday or an end-of-month date — those fill first. That said, if your move is sooner, still call. We'll tell you honestly what's open and won't pad a price just because it's short notice.
