E&E Moving is two brothers — Eli and Emmett Tanner — and that’s where the name comes from. We grew up on the Southside and around Arlington, the kind of Jacksonville kids who knew the river by which bridge got you home fastest. Before there was a company, both of us worked freight and the docks around JAXPORT, loading containers and learning the unglamorous truth about moving heavy things: it’s about preparation, not muscle. By 2014 we’d both gotten tired of watching neighbors get burned by hourly movers who slow-walked the job and padded the bill. So we bought a truck, printed flat-rate quotes, and put our own last name on the side of it.
How the Two of Us Split the Work
Eli runs operations — he’s the one who answers when you call, builds your estimate, and keeps the schedule honest, which is why his name’s on the owner block. Emmett runs the crews out in the field; if a piano needs to come down a flight of historic Riverside stairs, he’s usually the one calling the angle. Between the two of us we keep about seven trucks rolling and roughly a dozen full-time, uniformed movers on the payroll. These are W-2 employees who train under our crew chiefs, not day labor we found that morning. We own the trucks, we hire the people, and we do the move ourselves. E&E is not a broker and not a matching service — when you book us, you get us.
Licensed, Insured, and Built for the First Coast
We carry an active Florida intrastate mover registration on file with FDACS — that’s the Florida IM number you’ll see on our paperwork — and we hold US DOT and MC authority for the interstate runs down to Miami or up to Charlotte. Every shipment is covered, with up to a million dollars in cargo protection available and the standard $0.60-per-pound released value built in. Florida law says you get a written estimate before we lift anything, and we’d do that anyway. We’re proud to work with military families too — PCS moves for the folks stationed at NAS Jacksonville and Naval Station Mayport are a steady part of what we do, and we know the paperwork that comes with them.
